Ukraine joins the EU Civil Protection Mechanism
This is the world's largest system for providing international coordinated emergency assistance. About 88 thousand tons of humanitarian aid have already been sent to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Ukraine has become the 36th member of the Mechanism, which already includes EU countries and close EU partners (Norway, Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey).
The Mechanism has been the driving force behind the channelling of emergency in-kind assistance to Ukraine from across Europe since the start of the russian full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Ukraine's participation will help strengthen our country's capacity to prevent and respond to natural, man-made and military emergencies at the national and international levels, with the involvement of national forces of EU member states. This is another step towards the European Union.
